When a storm tears through Miles and shingles start peeling off the roofline, you need a crew that picks up the phone and shows up — not a call center that puts you on hold.
Roof Repair Smedway didn't start as a franchise looking for a market to plant a sign in. Our crews trained on real tear-offs, real ridge vents, and real attic inspections in Miles, IA before we ever put a truck on the road under this name.
Ask any Roof Repair Smedway crew lead for a copy of our license and certificate of insurance and they'll hand it over before you even finish the sentence — that's standard practice here, not a special favor.
We've seen what happens when a roof gets "good enough" instead of done right — the drywall stains, the mold behind the insulation, the second call nobody wanted to make. Our Commercial Roofing teams build to avoid that call entirely.
Every lead technician carries current state credentials before stepping on a ladder.
Emergency lines stay staffed through nights, weekends, and holidays.
Every estimate is itemized in writing so you know exactly what you're paying for.
Faster arrival times because the truck was already nearby.
By the time water is visibly dripping into a room, the damage underneath the surface has usually been developing for a while.
Heavy granule loss is one of the earliest visible clues that a roof is approaching the end of its service life.
Once a shingle starts warping, it's no longer sealing properly against wind-driven rain.
Climb into the attic on a sunny day — if you see pinpricks of daylight, water can get through the same gaps.
Sagging drywall or a soft spot underfoot in the attic usually points to sustained moisture damage, not a one-time drip.
Poor roof ventilation or compromised insulation from a slow leak can quietly push cooling costs up month over month.
Missing shingles expose the underlayment, which is only designed as a temporary secondary barrier, not a long-term surface.
Not every roof problem calls for the same fix, which is why we scope each job individually instead of running every call through one generic estimate.
Emergency dispatch covers downed limbs through the roof deck, storm-torn flashing, and wind-lifted shingle sections that need immediate coverage.
Residential work covers shingle repair, full re-roofs, ridge and soffit ventilation upgrades, and skylight flashing — whatever the house actually needs.
Commercial roofs carry different loads and different membrane systems than residential shingles, and our crews are trained on TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen accordingly.
Replacement jobs include a detailed material walkthrough so you're choosing a system that fits your climate exposure and budget, not just whatever's on the truck.
A thorough inspection checks flashing, fasteners, ventilation, and granule loss — the small issues that turn into major leaks if left alone.
Chimney crickets, skylight seals, and valley flashing are common leak points that general handyman work often gets wrong — our crews treat them as their own scope.
Calls placed after hours still reach an on-call line for anything urgent.
The inspection covers decking condition, flashing points, and ventilation, not just the obvious problem area.
No verbal-only pricing — every number is documented so there's no confusion at invoice time.
Once approved, the crew schedules the work and completes it to manufacturer spec, cleaning the property before leaving.
Response windows are communicated upfront, not left as a vague "sometime this week."
Every job gets a written estimate before a single nail is pulled, so there's no surprise number waiting at the end.
Crews carry moisture meters, infrared scanners for larger jobs, and proper fall-protection gear on every site.
Every repair and install comes with a workmanship warranty separate from the manufacturer's material warranty.
We've worked with enough adjusters across Miles, IA to know what documentation actually gets a claim approved faster.
If a repair is all your roof needs, we'll say so — we don't push a full replacement to inflate the invoice.
Every Commercial Roofing project closes with a written warranty covering our labor, separate from whatever coverage the shingle or membrane manufacturer already provides.
If a crew leader finds something during teardown that changes the scope, you'll hear about it before it changes your bill, not after.
We keep multiple crews staged across Miles, IA so that a storm hitting one part of the region doesn't leave the rest of Miles waiting.
Dispatch routes are planned around Miles's actual neighborhoods and access roads, not a generic radius drawn on a map, which is part of why our arrival estimates tend to hold up.
